Which bread is most suitable for tomato bruschetta?

The star of the bruschetta is definitely the bread, which should not be chosen at random, and should be suitable for the type of ingredients we will use.

Let's start by saying that the ideal bread for bruschetta is homemade, to be cut into slices about 2 cm thick.

For tomato bruschetta, the ideal one is the sourdough one, which is firmer and stays firm on the inside, perfect for best absorbing the slightly more watery toppings without falling apart.

How should bread be toasted?

Of course, a grill would be ideal for bruschetta, but in its absence, a cast-iron griddle or nonstick skillet will also work fine.

Heat them well, lay the bread slices on top and let them toast about 21/2 minutes per side, over medium heat.

Remember that perfectly toasted bread is the one that is crispy on the outside and softer on the inside, ideal for best absorbing all the seasoning.

Tomato bruschetta: which oil to use?

The protagonist of bruschetta, along with bread, is of courseextra virgin olive oil, the only one able to fully enhance its taste. For this recipe we have chosen Il Casolare Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

This cold-extracted oil, rich in polyphenols (essential for keeping its characteristic aroma and flavor intact), has a fruity, very balanced taste that is extremely pleasing to the palate, making it the ideal ingredient for a tomato bruschetta capable of winning over even the most discerning palates.
