Wine Maior Montefalco Sagrantino D.O.C.G.

Taste guide

A pure Sagrantino with an intense ruby red color with garnet highlights, this is a wine with intense and persistent aromas. With great body and structure, it is warm and with an elegant tannic texture, which enhances its complexity and strong character.

The sommelier's advice

This wine can withstand long aging, even up to 15-20 years. We recommend serving it at 20°C, pouring it carefully into a carafe and opening the bottle in advance to promote oxygenation. It is an ideal match for succulent dishes, such as fatty meats and braised meats, which enhance its structure and complexity.

Recipe and processing

Manual selection of the best bunches takes place in 15-kg crates in the early morning hours. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are destemmed and lightly crushed, avoiding skin tearing. The wine is then aged in barriques and large barrels for 18 months, followed by an additional 6 months in the bottle, for a rich and complex final result.
