Montefalco D.O.C. Red Wine

Taste guide

The wine has an intense, bright ruby red color, while the nose is rich and inviting, with notes of ripe red fruit—cherry, black cherry—accompanied by hints of currant jam and delicate floral notes of sweet violet. A full-bodied, harmonious, and smooth wine. Its vigorous yet well-integrated freshness gives it balance and makes it easy to drink, rendering it pleasant and dynamic. The tannins are well managed and the structure is solid. Excellent aging potential, it can evolve elegantly for 4-5 years.

The sommelier's advice

Ideal at a temperature of 18°C, open in advance to promote oxygenation and aromatic expression. Perfect with structured first courses such as ragù and lasagna, it also pairs well with roast pork and light game dishes.

Recipe and processing

Before harvesting, the less ripe bunches are thinned out, then mechanical harvesting takes place, optimizing the management of grape processing times. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are destemmed, crushed, and cooled to a temperature of 18°C. Alcoholic fermentation lasts about 8-10 days. After separation from the skins, the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks.
